Healthy Eating Tip For Pageant Prep

“Hara Hachi Bu”. This is a saying practiced by people who live in Okinawa, Japan to remind themselves to stop eating when they are 80% full. Practicing this phrase leads to their average caloric intake being about 1,900 calories per day. Okinawans have been ranked as one of the five healthiest and longest lived populations in the world, so they must be doing something right!

My platform of “making the healthy choice the easy choice” makes me passionate about sharing tips like this with you. My hope is that healthy behaviors will become not only a part of your pageant prep routine but also the rest of your life. By finding little tricks that are simple, sustainable and realistic for your everyday routine, it’s more likely you will continue them after competition season is over.

Instead of telling you what to eat, what not to eat, and when to eat, I instead will ask you to think about “Hara Hachi Bu” at your next meal.

In health and happiness,

Miss International 2017
